It is located in the northeastern part of the Central Danube Lowland , thirty-five kilometers from the capital of the city of Miskolc, and 190 km east of the capital of the country, Budapest .
Population - in 2001 - 6594 people; in 2010 - 6083 people.
The representative of the pre- Scythian culture Mezochechat (Pre-Scythian Mezőcsát Culture Ludas – Varjú-dűlő [1] ), who lived 2900 ± 130 years ago (980–830 BC), IR1, was found to have Y-chromosome haplogroup N and mitochondrial haplogroup G2a1 [2] [3] .
