Savo-Vishersky (Savvino-Vishersky, Savvin Vishersky) monastery (also known as the Ascension Savvina Desert) is a male monastery in the village of Savino of the Novgorod district of the Novgorod region on the left bank of the Vishera River.

It was founded at the beginning of the XV century. Archbishop Simeon [1] and prep. Savva Vishersky , who had previously founded the Savvin Monastery on the Darkness River in the Tver Region [2] . Before his death, he appointed a new abbot - Andrew. [3] .
For a long time, a cross was erected in the chapel of the monastery, erected by Rev. Savva. In the 1460s, the Life of Savva Vishersky was compiled here, one of the authors of which was the hegumen of the Gelasii Monastery [4] [5] Here Pakhomiy Logofet compiled a service to Saint Savva [3] . At the end of the 15th century, the Savvo-Vishersky Monastery was granted land from the Slavensky end of the Trade side of Novgorod from its Konchansky foundation [6] .
When hegumen Dorofee on the orders of Tsar Ivan the Terrible, was set up in 1574 by the cancer prep. Savva. In 1662, the stone Ascension Church was built (instead of the wooden one) and the Stone Church in the name of the Venerable. Sawas. In 1764, the monastery was among those that were closed by Catherine II . [7] The monks are temporarily settled in other monasteries near Novgorod.
In the 1930s closed [8] .
Current State
Monastic buildings were significantly affected during the war years. Ascension Cathedral was adapted for locksmith shops, silo towers and milk storage. In a still safe form, he stood at least until 1974. Until 1974, the Coast (predatory building) was preserved in excellent condition. Later all the buildings were disassembled on a brick.
Today, literally, there is no stone left on the monastery. In its place in 1992 a chapel was erected. Not far from it you can see two surviving fragments of the apparently cathedral pillars.
