ETTH

ETTH ( Eng. Ethernet To The Home - Ethernet to home) is one of the ways to permanently connect to the Internet using Ethernet protocols , in particular Fast Ethernet . Developed by Teleste Corporation and Tratec Telecom BV in the early 1990s.

The connection speed is 100 Mbps or 1 Gbit / s. An optical cable is laid before each connected house. As subscriber lines, depending on the choice of provider, twisted pair of the fifth category is laid from active equipment, or optical connecting cables are used.

ETTH Timeline

  • 1991 - First introduction of ETTH to investors.
  • 2000 is the first version of the IEEE 802.3 standard.
  • 2001 - ETTH shown by IEEE .
  • 2004 - Publication of the EFM standard as IEEE 802.3ah-2004.
