In his essay: “Zur ältesten Geschichte der indogerman. Völker ( Berlin , 1845 ) Kun first proposed the hypothesis of the Indo-Germanic people. Kuhn is considered the founder of the science of comparative mythology. His monograph: "Die Herabkunft des Feuers und des Göttertranks" (Berlin, 1859 ; its new edition was published under the title "Mytholog. Studien" 1887 ) is a model of research of this genus. Particularly valuable are Kuhn's works on German mythology; of these are separately published “Märk. Sagen und Märchen ( 1843 ); “Norddeutsche Sagen, Gebräuche u. Märchen "(together with Schwarz, 1848 )," Sagen, Märchen und Gebräuche aus Westfalen "( 1859 ).
Together with Theodor Aufrecht Kuhn, he founded: “ Zeitschrift für vergleichende Sprachforschung ”, where many of his very valuable articles were placed [4] .
Franz Felix Adalbert Kun was elected a corresponding member of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences [5] .
