Himekami is a project of the Japanese composer Yoshiaki Hoshi (1946-2004).
In 1971, Hoshi won the first prize in the national organ competition, performed a lot with concerts ; later he began to pay more attention to composing. The first disc was released in 1981, since then the musician has recorded a lot of albums and soundtracks ; recent works include Blue Flower (2003) and Aoi Hana (2003), Huan Xiang Shui Huz Huan (2003), Kaze No Densetsu (2004).
Unlike Kitaro, the Himekami project is closer to traditional Japanese music . In addition to the common "Moon Water", "Goddess of Snow" he released about 50 more albums (if you count The Best collections, singles and more). The artist’s early projects were released under the name Himekami Sensation. In the USA, his albums were released by Higher Octave Music .
Despite the fact that the music of Hoshi is different from that written by Kitaro, Gandalf and others, experts combine their work in one genre Electronic New Age . Himekami music combines elements of traditional Japanese, symphonic music and synthesized sounds of nature. The artist’s compositions can be heard in some Japanese films, on Japanese TV and even in Japanese games ( Suikoden III is a prime example). He is also known for his performances in temples, churches of Japan.
