Feature
The station was opened on November 6, 1967 as part of the first stage of “Baki Soveti” - “Nariman Narimanov”. There are green areas in front of the station lobby. Through them, the glass pyramid of the lobby is clearly visible. Inside the lobby, as well as at all deep-laid stations, there are two halls: a cash and an escalator. “Icheri Sheher” is the closest metro station to the historical part of the city, this is precisely the reason for its new name. After reconstruction, the station became one of the most beautiful and original in Baku.
In front of the station there is a exit from the second track to the first one, since the exit is not the cross, the first track from the moment of opening the station is not used, all trains arrive and depart only from one track. Moreover, interpylon passages on the first path to the reconstruction were blocked by cast-iron gratings.
After 2020, this line is expected to extend to the south-western districts of Baku. Thus, after the Icheri Sheher station, it is planned to build 4 more new stations, as a result of which the first path will be used.
