Lemkovschina ( Lemkovina , Ukrainian: Lemkivshchyna, Lemkovina, Polish. Łemkowszczyzna ) - the territory of the historical settlement of Lemcs on both slopes of the Eastern Beskids (in the Carpathians between the San and Poprad rivers , and to the west of the Uzha River). It is located mainly in the southeast of modern Poland ( Lesser Poland and Subcarpathian Voivodeship ), and also partially in Slovakia and the Transcarpathian region of Ukraine .

In interwar Poland, Lemkivschyna was almost entirely within the boundaries of the Cracow Voivodeship. It consisted of five counties, with centers in the cities of Nowy Sacz (the area inhabited by Lemos 20.72 km²), Grybow (585 km²), Gorlice (916 km²), Jaslo (820 km²) and Krosno (727 km²), total area of 4 310 km².

The southern borders of the Polish part of Lemkovschina passed along the Polish - Czechoslovak border. The Polish part of Lemkovschina was located on the northern slopes of the Carpathian Mountains , on the slopes of the lower Beskids from the Poprad River to the Dukelsky Pass . Its westernmost point was the village of Koroleva Russkaya (now Polish. Królowa Górna ), the northern border passed through the villages of Bincharovo ( Polish. Binczarowa ), Belyanka ( Polish. Bielanka ), Ropitsa Russkaya (now Polish. Ropica Polska ), Razdole ( Polish. Rozdz ), Pilgrim ( Polish Pielgrzymka ), Myscowo ( Polish Myscowa ) and Girovo ( Polish Hyrowa ).

After the Second World War, most of the territory of Lemkovschina became part of the Polish People's Republic . In 1944-1946, many Lemcs were resettled in the Ukrainian SSR . In 1947, as a result of the Operation Wisla, the remaining Lemko population was deported to western Polish voivodeships , and the Poles settled the liberated territories.
