Cycling competitions at the I Summer Olympic Games were held on April 8 , 11 , 12 and 13 . In total, six sets of medals were played - five on the cycle track and one on the highway . The cycle track competition took place at the new Neo Faliron velodrome, and the road race ran from Athens to the Marathon and vice versa.
