Kalocsa ( Hungarian Kalocsa ) is a city in the Bach-Kiskun area in Hungary . The city covers an area of 53.18 km², where 18 187 inhabitants live. Kalocsa is located on the left bank of the Danube , 5 kilometers from the river itself.

History
Kalocsa is one of the oldest cities in Hungary and throughout history has had significantly more significance than at present. During the period of the Christianization of Hungary around the year 1000, Archbishop 's Church was founded by King István Svyaty , the Kaloczy Department is one of the five oldest bishops of Hungary, together with Esztergom , Eger , Veszprém and Pec . Currently Kalocsa is the center of the archdiocese of Kalocsa-Kecskemet , one of the four archdioceses of the country's metropolis.
In 1405, Kalocsa received city rights. Kaloche, like most of Hungary, was conquered by the Turks in the 16th century. The vast majority of the buildings of the pre-Turkish period died. Another serious damage to the architectural heritage of the city was inflicted in 1875, when almost the entire city was burned out as a result of a fire.

Economy and Transport
Kalocsa lies in the center of a vast agricultural region with fertile soils. The main crops are grapes, paprika, fruit, and flax. In the city itself is a number of food industry enterprises. Kalocsa is standing on the road number 51 Budapest - Baya - Sombor . A dead-end railway line leads to the city from Kecskemet .
