- On January 14, the world's first charity television concert, Elvis Presley , was broadcast in Honolulu , which was broadcast via satellite to 40 countries in Asia and Europe . The audience of television screens amounted to ~ 1.3 billion people. Aloha From Hawaii concert was watched by more people in the world than the landing of Americans on the moon . Nobody has beaten this record so far.

- April - Alla Pugacheva leaves the jazz orchestra conducted by Oleg Lundstrem and for the second time becomes the soloist of the Moscow Regional Philharmonic Society at the Rosconcert .
- On May 19–20, the First Regional Competition of Tourist Song Performers was held in Miass of the Chelyabinsk Region , which later became the Ilmen Festival .
- From May to July, Led Zeppelin conducted their ninth North American tour, which was qualitatively different from previous concert activities in the field of rock music. A large number of lighting and pyrotechnic equipment was introduced at that time, as a result of which the concerts turned into a complex show. This event determined the appearance of rock concerts for the next decades.

- September 29 - American hard rock band Grand Funk Railroad this year turned from a trio into a quartet, got rid of the last word in its name and recorded the first single, on which the drummer of the group Donald Brewer performed. In May of next year, their cover version of the song “The Locomotion” led the top for eight weeks. Then the group regained its former name, but such successes no longer achieved.
