Naisk ( Latin: Naïskos , Greek: ναϊσκος ) is a small temple in the classical style with columns or pylons and a triangular pediment . Naisk is often found as an artistic element of temples, for example, in Aigir or Didim , in small-form architecture in ancient Greek cemeteries as tombstones or niches, such as, for example, at the Ceramics cemetery in Athens and on nasal vases in a red-figure vase . Inside the temple, the deceased was usually depicted. The Louvre presents sculptural images of terracotta nests created in fulfillment of a vow and serving as home sanctuaries. The image of the temple always has a religious coloring in the funeral rituals of the ancient Greeks .
The ancient Romans had a similar concept - the edicule , which, however, does not fully coincide with the search. In contrast to the search, the edicule in the ancient Roman triumphal arches performed a representative function.
