First mentioned in 1265 during the reign of Istvan V.
By the end of the XVII century, the settlement was practically depopulated, but then its population was restored due to the Rusyns of the Greek Catholic religion. As early as 1920, 1514 Christians of the Eastern rite, 710 Roman Catholics, 237 reformists, 121 Jews and 2 evangelists lived in it.
