Munich Institute of Foreign Languages ​​and Translators

The Munich Institute of Foreign Languages ​​and Translators ( German: Sprachen & Dolmetscher Institut München ) was founded in 1952. The Institute trains interpreters and translators , as well as translators of foreign correspondence. The institute has a German as a Foreign branch and conducts language courses as part of its evening program. In the 2004-2005 academic year, about 150 teachers worked at the institute and about 1050 students studied.

Additional qualifications

Training

The duration of training for a translator of foreign correspondence is two years, for a professional interpreter or translator - three years. During training, the emphasis is not only on the development of the theory of translation , but also on obtaining the knowledge necessary for the translator in practical work. In addition to the language, students choose one (or several) of the four possible areas of specialization:

  • equipment ;
  • economics ;
  • natural sciences ;
  • right .

Higher School of Applied Languages

In 2007, the Munich Institute of Foreign Languages ​​and Translators received the status of a higher educational institution . Within the framework of the institute, the Higher School of Applied Languages ​​was created, which makes it possible to study in several new specialties. At the end of the Higher School, students receive a bachelor's or master's degree .
