Biography
Alexey Ekimyan was born in Baku in 1927, when his mother was 16 years old. Father left the family. He grew up in the family of his mother's brother - the military.
In 1933 in Yerevan Ekimyan, besides his regular school, began to study in music, played the violin, but he was unable to continue his education.
Since the beginning of World War II, he left education in both schools and worked on the railroad to feed himself.
Since 1944, he participated in the restoration of Kharkov , where he became friends with the former front-line soldiers, who advised him to go to work in the police. At their insistence he graduated from evening school in Kharkov.
In 1946 he returned to Yerevan and went to work at the police. In 1947 he was sent to study at the militia secondary school in Vladimir.
In 1954 he passed the competition and entered the Higher School of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs in Moscow. During his studies, he began to participate in the amateur art activities of the school of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, where he met his future wife, Valentina Mikhailovna Karpova, who sang in the choir.
In 1957, for the international youth festival in Moscow, he composed the first piece - “Festival Waltz”, which received the 1st place and Certificate of Honor at the festival amateur contest of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs.
From 1957, after graduation, he was a senior lieutenant, head of the Krasnostroitelny police station in the Moscow region. Then he supervised Biryulevsky police station, the city police department in Serpukhov .
In 1963, Lieutenant Colonel, headed the criminal investigation department of the Moscow region. Due to his integrity and ability to restore order in the areas quickly made a career, he rose to the rank of general. Colleagues in uniform did not even imagine that in the evenings he wrote music.
In 1969 he wrote the first song “Accident” to the poems of E. Dolmatovsky , which was heard on the radio only in 1975, thanks to the performance and recording of Anna German .
In 1970, ahead of time he received the title "Major General of the Police."
In 1973, at the suggestion of Aram Khachaturian and Oscar Feltsman A. Ekimyan, they were admitted to the USSR Union of Composers . The membership card was presented personally by the First Secretary of the Union Tikhon Khrennikov .
In March 1973, gave the first big creative evening in the Moscow House of Cinema . At the end of the same year filed a resignation due to illness. Organizes a small creative team, which includes concerts throughout the country. He meets Robert Rozhdestvensky , with whom he begins to cooperate.
In 1980 a “Wish” record was released with Ekimyan’s twelve songs performed by Vakhtang Kikabidze .
Having lived two fates - general and composer, A. Ekimyan remained a modest man. So, many of Ekimyan’s acquaintances only after his death learned about his great fame in Armenia. Back in the early 1970s, having created several Armenian cycles — about 80 songs to the words of Armenian poets — he became a national hero in Armenia. In the same years, Alexey Gurgenovich received the title of Honored Artist of Armenia.
Ekimyan's songs were performed by Anna German , Lyudmila Zykina , Iosif Kobzon , Vakhtang Kikabidze, Muslim Magomayev , Lev Leshchenko , Nikolai Gnatyuk , Georgiy Minasyan , Lusine Zakaryan , Sofia Rotaru , Nani Bregvadze , the band " Self-made " popular performers.
Alexey Gurgenovich suffered three heart attacks . The state of health was influenced by the complexity of his work in danger, as well as the creative throwing of the composer.
Ekimyan died suddenly on April 24, 1982 in the hospital of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, before he was 55 years old. The cause of death was heart disease.
At the insistence of the government of Armenia, he was buried in Yerevan - in the Pantheon of the especially revered in the city of Tokhmakh cemetery [1] .
