The “Zemlyane” group was created by students of the Leningrad Radio-Technical College in 1969 . ^{[4] [5]}

1980s - 1990

The group has always played the strongest and most professional musicians of St. Petersburg rock , such as Igor Romanov , Boris Aksyonov, Yuri Ilchenko , Sergey Vasilyev, Alexander Krivtsov, Ivan Kovalev, Alexander Titov , Valery Brusilovsky, Andrey Kruglov and many others ... ^[5]

Vladimir Kiselev leaves the role of the musician-drummer and completely switches to administrative activities. In October 1980, Romanov and Kiselev invited to the group musician Sergei Skachkov as a keyboard player and one of the vocalists of the VIA (ex-Kakadu, and before that he played in the group he created “ April ” - the same name Kiselev’s group were), before the band’s vocalists were Igor Dembovsky and Victor Kudryavtsev. From this moment on, the peculiar timbre of Skachkov’s voice will forever determine the characteristic and familiar now “Zemlyanovskoe” vocal sound of the group.

Kiselev introduces the group with the composer Vladimir Miguley , which leads to the emergence of commercial hits. The collective records such songs as “Red Horse”, “Karate”, “Stuntmen”, which become All-Union hits. A little later the songs of Vyacheslav Dobrynin and Leonid Derbenev were recorded “Forgive, Earth”, “And life goes on” . However, the song " Grass at Home " became the "calling card" of the band. The total circulation of the group's records, released in Soviet times only by Melodiya , amounted to about 15 million copies.

The ensemble collaborated with composers Mark Fradkin , Vladimir Miguley , Yuri Antonov , Vadim Gamaliya , Vyacheslav Dobrynin . The themes of the texts of “Earthlings” concerned adventure and courageous romance, “male” professions - pilots, athletes, stuntmen, cosmonauts. Compared to many contemporaries, “Zemlyane” were distinguished by heavier music, energetic presentation of material, and expressive behavior on stage. In fact, “Earthlings” performed rock , but in the official press of that time they were trying not to be called a rock band.

Practicing metal groups - “ Cruise ”, “ Gunnar Graps Group ” and “Earthlings” - succeeded remarkably in melting down the canons of heavy metal and mass pop songs, which ensured their stable position. The rest existed on the verge (and sometimes beyond the edge) of the ban ...

In 1985, according to the press, the group “Zemlyane” was at the zenith of its popularity, at the peak of fame and success. In the summer of 1985, the “Zemlyane” took part in a large concert program of the “ XIIth International Festival of Youth and Students ” held in Moscow, and the future stars of the 90s performed at the opening of the “Earthlings” - a British band “ Everything but the Girl .” ^[eight]

In October 1985, the frontman and lead guitarist Igor Romanov left the band, later creating his own metal band Soyuz, and later becoming the guitarist of Alice and luring out drummer Valery Brusilovsky with him. In 1986, Kiselev tried to radically change the image of the new composition: the musicians are changing, a new program is being prepared, stylistically close to the weighted boogie-woogie .

In September 1987, “Zemlyane” received the First Prize “For Excellence” and a special prize “For the best performance of the German song” at the International Music Festival “ Schlager - 87 ” in Dresden ( GDR ). The musicians transferred the whole monetary prize of 2400 marks to the “ Soviet Peace Fund ” ^[9] . In December of the same year, “Zemlyane”, the first of the domestic rock bands, performed at the sports complex “ Olympiysky ” in joint concerts with the foreign rock group “ Uriah Heep ”.

In August 1988, the group performed at the International Festival in Sopot with the songs “People are expensive” and “Joy and sorrow” (music and lyrics by Sergey Skachkov) ^{[10] [11]} .

In the autumn of 1988, the founder of the ensemble, Vladimir Kiselyov, parted ways with the team and organized his production center in Leningrad, where he began working with new young groups (such as St. Petersburg , Russians , Passengers, Everest, etc.) . The board of “Zemlyanami” passes into the hands of the administrator Boris Zosimov (the future founder of Muz-TV and MTV Russia ).

In 1989, the group "Zemlyane" invited for a series of performances in his theater in Paris couturier Pierre Cardin . Performances in the “Pierre Cardin Theater” were organized jointly with the participation of Russian ballet stars. Carden for expressiveness calls them "Orient Express" ( Orient Express - a prototype of the name of the group "Orient X-press", see below). The re-creation of the ensemble by Sergey Skachkov (1990s - 2006)

After a short break from 1992 to 1994, the group called “Earthlings” is again recreated by vocalist Sergey Skachkov . He registers the name "Earthlings" in the name of the Moscow Theater of Song "Music Store" ^[12] . By the fall of 1995, the group was stabilized as follows: Sergey Skachkov - keyboards, vocals; Yuri Levachev - bass; Gennady Martov - guitar (ex: “Rondo”, a group of Igor Kupriyanov); Leonid Khaikin - drums (ex: “The Joker”); Mikhail Ivanov - keyboards (ex: Igor Sarukhanov's group), and “Zemlyane” again begin touring life. The new concert program was called “The Second Stage Around the Earth”.

In 1996, the updated “Zemlyane”, together with other artists, took part in the election campaign of President of the Russian Federation B. Yeltsin “ Vote or lose .” In October 1996, “Earthlings” give concerts at the Moscow Variety Theater .

In October 1997, "Zemlyane" give solo concerts in the concert hall "Russia" , by this time Vladimir Rozdin (ex: "Monomakh") appeared behind the drums. In March 2004, Vladimir Kiselyov again offered cooperation to Sergey Skachkov, and they joined forces at a new stage in the development of the group.

In November 2006, “Zemlyane” celebrated its 30th anniversary at the anniversary concerts held in the State Kremlin Palace in Moscow (November 7, 2006), in the Ice Palace in St. Petersburg (November 9, 2006), in the Moscow Luzhniki Sports and Concert Complex (11.11 .2006). Conflict between copyright holders and double groups (2007 - ... present)

Like many VIAs of the 1970–1980s, the “Zemlyane” group has double counterparts that also claim this name. Because of the imperfection of the legal base in the 1990s, former members of the group performed under this name already then, today double compositions often use the soundtracks of copyright holder Sergey Skachkov ^{[16] [17]} .

Back in the mid-70s, S. Skachkov and V. Kiselev had their own groups with exactly the same name - “April”. But they were not personally acquainted, and having learned of the existence of Kiselev, who was already quite popular in April, to avoid confusion, Skachkov renamed his April in Kakadu ^[18] .

At the end of 2007, for a number of creative reasons and disagreements, the paths of producer Vladimir Kiselev and soloist Sergei Skachkov again diverged, eventually Vladimir Kiselyov claimed his rights to the brand and the name of the group to which he was involved with the young musicians, trying to present them to the public under the same name - “Earthlings”. So, the Kiselev team in April 2009, together with the players of the Russian national team, recorded and presented the “Anthem of the Fans” of the Russian national football team ^[19] , and in the summer gives a concert at the Leningradsky railway station before sending the train to the fans for the World Championship qualifying match. football ^[20] . However, speaking in Moscow on Red Square on the Day of Russia on June 12, 2009, Kiselyov's team went on stage to play football “The Anthem of Fans” simply as a nameless ensemble, as the hosts and organizers of the concert refused to announce unknown musicians as a group called “Zemlyane” .

On November 25, 2009, a concert-festival entitled “This song became an Anthem” was held, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of writing the song “ Grass at Home ” with the participation of many Russian pop stars, cosmonauts and various public figures, organized by the Production Center of Sergey Skachkov NP TsDYUT “Zemlyane ". ^{[21] [22]} At this concert, by the decision of Roscosmos , the song “Grass at Home” was given the official public status of the Anthem of Russian Cosmonautics! ^[23]

After this event, on March 30, 2010, Skachkov and the Zemlyan group arrived at the Baikonur cosmodrome to sing the Grass at Home before the start ^{[24] [25]} . On this event, a documentary film was shown, shown by the TV channel Ren TV on Cosmonautics Day on April 12, 2010. ^[3]

On May 9, 2010, as the headliners from Russia, the group “Zemlyane” performed in a large concert in honor of the 65th anniversary of Victory Day in Sofia (Bulgaria) .

December 10, 2010 at the charity evening "Believe in a Dream", organized in support of Russian children with cancer and ophthalmological diseases, which took place in the Ice Palace in St. Petersburg, "Zemlyane" performed their super-hit "Grass at Home" along with other guests this evening - world celebrities of foreign music and cinema, as well as with the then Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin ^[26] . The frames of this joint performance were later included in the official video of the group for this song, which appeared on television in 2012.

In the summer and autumn of 2011, the group takes part in the All-Russian anti-drug action, speaking in 12 cities of Russia ... ^{[27] [28] [29] [30]}

In the same 2011, the musicians of the group performed at the festival of the Russian song “ Zelena Gura ” in Poland.

On January 21, 2012, the then President of the Russian Federation, D. Medvedev, at an informal meeting with the ensemble, sang the famous “ Land in the Windows ” ... ^[31]

In the late 2000s, the musicians of the band Sergei Skachkov pleased their fans with the annual release of three albums of new song material at once. In 2008 - the lyric “Chill of the Soul” was released, in 2009 - the joint “ Earthlings & Supermax / Sergey Skachkov & Kurt Hauenstein ” (a very exclusive record from the songs of the group “ Supermax ”, in vocal performance by Sergey Skachkov and Kurt Haunstein , in Russian and English), in 2010 - the new metal "Symbols of Love." The album “Symbols of Love”, in which the musicians decided to rock the olden time recalling the heavy metal experiments of their youth, received numerous praise in the Russian music media ^{[32] [33]} . In support of this album, a very spectacular apocalyptic video for the song “Your Delete” was filmed ^[34] . In connection with the constant judicial ups and downs of that period, the records were released, then as a group of “Earth” , then as NP TsDYUT GROUND , then just as SERGEY SKACHKOV ^{[35] [36] [37]} .

But there were more groups claiming the name. For example, in 2007, the Orient X-press - Earthlings group was organized, playing to the present ^[38] . The name comes from Orient Express - “Orient Express”, which Pierre Cardin gave to the “Zemlyane” group for expressiveness when performing in its theater in Paris in 1989. It includes ex-musicians of “Zemlyan”: S. Vasilyev, Y. Belov, Y. Babenko, vocalist A. Khramov ^{[39] [40] [41]} .

There are a number of court proceedings between soloist Sergey Skachkov and producer Vladimir Kiselyov , who created the image of the group since the 1980s and claim to the name ^[36] . In 2008, Rospatent transferred the right to the Zemlyan brand to Kiselyov. In 2009, this decision was canceled by the court, and Skachkov was recognized as the legal owner of the brand ^{[42] [17]} .

The name “Earthlings” was registered by me in 1992 in the name of the Moscow Theater of Song “Music Store”, and in 2007, under the assignment agreement, it was transferred to the Children's Landmarks “Zemlyane”. In September 2008, a certain LLC “Production Center" Ordinar TV "" filed an application for a complete early termination of the protection of a trademark in connection with its non-use during the five years preceding the date of application. In a matter of days, Rospatent considered the application, issued a decision to terminate legal support for the “Zemlyane” trademark, after which two musical groups appeared - “Zemlyane” in a new composition and “Orient X-press-Zemlyane”. In 2010, the “Open Appeal to the President of the Russian Federation from Russian Pop Artists” ^{[43] [44]} was distributed to the Internet, in which “ E. and V. Presnyakovs , A. Barykin , I. Sarukhanov , A. Glyzin , other participants in popular VIA 70-80-ies and Roskosmos "asked " to protect from lawlessness and arbitrariness of the soloist of the group "Earthlings" Sergei Skachkov . Skachkov also gives an interview that Kiselev has no relation to the organization of the group, he was only engaged in raiding and registering the name of the group in his own name.

In 2011, Kiselyov filed another lawsuit for ownership of the brand ^[45] . At the beginning of 2012, the court scheduled the trial ... ^[46]

In February 2013, the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia seemed to settle the dispute between the composition of the Zemlyane group ^{[47] [48]} .

In the summer of 2013, “Zemlyane” took part in a concert tour as part of the All-Russian patriotic action “Russian Rock in Support of Russia” held in many cities of the country, together with the Chicherin , Gorod 312 , Underwood and others ^{[49] [50 ] ]} .

In February 2014, due to the extremely difficult political situation and the exacerbation of the situation in Ukraine , the musicians of the “Zemlyane” group made an unprecedented decision to support all civilians of the fraternal country and flew to the Crimea on February 27. Together with the musicians of the Russian group and other artists, as a charitable gesture of goodwill, the artists performed daily free of charge to the residents of Sevastopol, Simferopol, Kerch, and in other settlements, as well as on warships in front of the sailors of the Russian Black Sea Fleet ^{[51] 52]} . In the first days of September 2014, the musicians of the group “Zemlyane” gave a series of charity concerts in Belgorod and Rostov-on-Don , in camps for refugees and displaced people from the south-east of Ukraine . In addition to the music festival, the musicians helped to collect humanitarian aid for them - they brought people warm clothes, household chemicals, medicines and toys for children on wagons from Moscow and St. Petersburg ^{[57] [58]} .
