Title

There are three variants of the origin of the name "Elban". Translated from the Evenk Albin - this is open space, translated from Ulchi - a spacious place. There is also a Nanai legend that tells how a hunter, climbing a hill, once saw a wonderful valley lit by the sun and exclaimed with surprise: “Ulbin!” - which meant “sunny valley”. Over time, “Ulbin” was distorted in “Elban”.

Geography and Transportation

Elban is a village of subordination. Located 72 km from Komsomolsk-on-Amur . In the village there is a railway station of the same name on the Volochaevka-2 line - Komsomolsk-on-Amur . The village is located in the valley of the Elban River, 20 kilometers from the Amur River , but movement to the Amur River is difficult due to the lack of suitable roads. You can get to the cities of Komsomolsk-on-Amur , Amursk and Khabarovsk by bus.

The village of Elban is equated to the regions of the Far North .

History

The village was formed in September 1936 and began to grow rapidly after the start of the Great Patriotic War with the construction of the Elban Mechanical Plant (now FGUP DVPO "Voskhod"). In December 1936, a bridge over the Ulbinka was built, in the same year the railway section 77 kilometers from the city of Komsomolsk-on-Amur and received the name "Razezd No. 26". In 1940, a military warehouse was transported to this station. In difficult conditions, the first factory workers organized an ammunition production plant at the warehouse. At this time, the village gets the name Elban. In December 1941, the first batch of ammunition for the front was released. [2]

The street, which began to be built from plant to relocation, later became known as Factory. With the growth of the population of the village in 1943-1944, 12 standard houses were built along the 1st Standard and 2nd Standard streets, hence the name of these streets.

During the period of the highest economic development (late 1980s), the population of the village reached 17 thousand people. DVPO Voskhod, State Farm Elbansky, Volna Combine, Construction Management - 104 with 9 subdivisions, PMK - 81 worked stably and in full force on the territory of the village. A network of social and cultural facilities was developed: 2 houses of culture, 5 kindergartens, 4 schools, the Voskhod stadium, the Sovkhoz sports complex, the hospital expanded, construction of the Palace of Culture and the further development of the residential sector were planned. [3]

In the early 1990s, Elban was overwhelmed by a wave of socio-economic recession. [3]

In 2015, a new pre-trial detention center for 800 people opened in the village, built in the form of a six-star star using new technologies and modern materials. In the people he was given the name "Snowflake". All buildings and premises of a secure facility are made in accordance with European rules and requirements for the maintenance of persons under investigation [4] .
