Biography
Anatoly Novikov was born on October 18 (30), 1896 in Skopin (now Ryazan Oblast ).
He received his initial musical education at the Ryazan Teachers' Seminary (1912–1916) and the Moscow National Conservatory (1916–1917; a student of V.V. Paskhalov , A. A. Krein [3] ).
In 1918-1920 - conductor of the choir at the Skopin Department of Public Education. In 1921-1924, he was a music teacher at an agricultural technical school located in the former estate of the Trubetskoy Princes Znamenskoye-Sadki in Moscow. In 1924-1926 he was the head of amateur performances at the club of the M. Frunze Military Academy in Moscow.
In 1921-1927 he studied at the Moscow Conservatory. P.I. Tchaikovsky (class composition R.M. Glier ).
In the 1920s and 1930s, he was the head of amateur choirs, including army ones. In 1926-1928, he was a teacher in the theory of music at the vocal courses of the State Institute of Musical Science , and from 1929-1932 he studied at the October Revolution College of Music (now the A. G. Schnittke Moscow State Institute of Music ). In 1928-1938 he was an instructor in the Red Army amateur activities of the Central House of the Red Army , the Moscow artillery courses, and the Political Directorate of the Moscow Military District .
In 1939-1943 - the artistic director of the Song and Dance Ensemble of the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions , in 1948-1951 - the Song Ensemble of the All-Union Radio .
He began to compose music in 1917. The author of more than 600 songs to the words of Soviet poets, devoted to the patriotic, civic theme - historical events, the heroes of the Civil (1918-1920) and Patriotic (1941-1945) wars, the partisan movement, the struggle for peace, the democratic youth movement, including Smuglyanka "(1940)," Oh, roads ... "(1946)," Russia "(1946)," Anthem of the Democratic Youth of the World "(1947), as well as musical comedies (" Vasily Terkin ", 1971 and others). In 1936-1937 he collected and edited about 500 Russian folk songs (Russian Folk Songs, Vols. 1-3, some in his own recording).
Member of the CPSU since 1952 .
He died on September 24, 1984 [4] (according to other sources - September 23 [5] ) in Moscow. He was buried at the Novodevichy cemetery (plot number 10) [6] .
