OF-40 - Italian main battle tank , a variant of the German tank " Leopard-1 ". Designed in the late 1970s for export to the Middle East . 36 units were produced in 1981 - 1985 , all produced cars were sold to the United Arab Emirates .

History of Creation and Production
In 1981-82 The United Arab Emirates purchased 18 OF-40 MK.1 tanks, in 1984-85. another 18 OF-40 tanks of the Mk.2 modification, as well as three OF-40 ARV ARVs based on the tank.
Modifications
- OF-40 Mk.1 - basic version, released 18 tanks. In 1985, all machines were upgraded to the Mk.2 standard.
- OF-40 Mk.2A - An improved version with a new fire control system, two-plane stabilization of the gun and the replacement of the anti-aircraft machine gun with a more powerful 12.7 mm caliber.
- OF-40 Mk.2A1 - An improved version with a 120-mm gun, 1,000 hp Ariete type turbocharged diesel engine. The prototype was not completed.
Base Machines
- OF-40 ARV - ARV based on the chassis of the OF-40 tank.
- Palmaria - export 155-mm self-propelled guns based on the OF-40 tank chassis.
- OF-40 SPAAG - ZSU, armed with twin 35 mm guns.
- OTO-76/62 - ZSU with a 76-mm automatic gun.
