Russell Lincoln Ackoff ( 1919 - 2009 ) is an American scientist in the fields of operations research , systems theory and management .

Scientific activity
He received a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Pennsylvania in 1941, and in 1947 he defended a Ph.D. degree in the philosophy of science. Russell Ackoff was a professor of management at the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business . He is the author of 22 books and more than 150 articles, many of which have been translated into Russian, in particular, “ Planning for the Future of the Corporation ”, “ Akoff on Management ”, and others. The author (together with ) of the original hypothesis of psychological compatibility .
