Train of Mercy is a Soviet black and white film staged at the Lenfilm film studio in 1964 by director Iskander Hamraev . The first film adaptation of the story of Vera Panova "Sputniks".

Content

Story

The film tells about the fighting everyday life of the ambulance train . “Life-saving trains” were the name given to medical trains during the years of World War II . In one of these trains for the first time, people of different character, age and habits met. For four years, the train of mercy runs along the roads of the war, evacuating the wounded from the front. Bombs, blood, death, short minutes of rest bring people together who save other people's lives. They all become one big family ...

  • In December 1944, on the instructions of the newspaper’s editorial staff, Vera Panova completed four flights in 2 months in the “exemplary” military sanitary train No. 312 to the battlefields for the wounded, after which she published the story “Sputniks” (1946; Stalin Prize , 1947), which brought the writer wide readership recognition.
  • The film "Train of Mercy" was the first film adaptation of the story of Vera Panova . In 1975, director Pyotr Fomenko directed the four-part feature film " For the Rest of His Life " based on this story.
  • Under the pseudonym Seryozha Subbotin, in fact, Seryozha Zubkov, the son of Valentin Zubkov , appeared in the role of the son of Danilov).
