Novoselov, Dmitry Gennadyevich

In 1994 - 1996 he served in the ranks of the Russian Army. He served in the internal troops, participated in hostilities in the Chechen Republic. After demobilization, he returned to his hometown. In April 1996 he entered the service in the city department of internal affairs.

In 2002 he graduated from the faculty of training investigators of the Ural Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the city of Yekaterinburg. Later he served in the special response squad in the Organized Crime Control Department ( SOBR UBOP ) of the Orenburg Region. Novoselov repeatedly recognized as the best employee of his unit for excellent shooting.

Member of the second Chechen war . He took part in four official missions to the North Caucasus region, participated in 15 special operations, detained 10 participants of illegal gangs, two criminals who were on the federal wanted list. With it, a large number of weapons and ammunition were seized.

In October 2002, he was at a roadblock near the town of Argun. The item was constantly fired by a sniper. Novoselov calculated the place where the fire was fired from, tracked down the shooter and destroyed it with fire from a sniper rifle. Later, near the Argun railway station, shelling of the federal forces checkpoint began. The soldiers asked for help from their neighbors, and a group of policemen, including Novosyolov, left for the battlefield. On the way, the car came under fire, a fight ensued. Novoselov skillfully chose the position and from his rifle he suppressed the main firing point of the bandits.

On March 1, 2003, in the town of Argun of the Grozny district of the Chechen Republic, at the intersection of Gudermeskaya and Zavodskaya streets, soldiers of the internal troops, to which the task force had left, ambushed. The number of militants was superior. Captain Novoselov of a sniper rifle destroyed the bandits, and when the ammunition ran out, he continued the battle with a submachine gun in his hands. His commander, lieutenant colonel Kirinchuk, was wounded nearby, and the captain rushed to the rescue. Militants discovered the position of a sniper and began firing from grenade launchers. As a result of a direct hit by a grenade, Captain Novoselov was fatally wounded. The officer showed iron restraint and courage, doing his duty to the end.

February 19, 2004 by the decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 1217 for the courage and heroism shown during the counter-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus, to the police captain Novoselov Dmitry Gennadievich was awarded the title Hero of Russia (posthumously).

Buried in the city of Orsk, Orenburg region.

• By order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia No. 170 dated March 11, 2005, Novoselov Dmitry Gennadyevich is forever enlisted in the lists of OMSN personnel at the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Orenburg Region.
• In the homeland of the Hero, in the city of Snezhinsk, on the house where Dmitry lived, a memorial plaque was opened. In the city of Orsk, Orenburg region, where he served, there is Novosyolova Street, on the Avangard Square in the Square of Glory, a bust of Dmitry Novosyolov is installed. His name is immortalized at the memorial to the deceased employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the territory of the militia town where the Bars riot police base is located. A memorial plaque was also opened on the building where the place of deployment of the OMSN unit in which Dmitry was serving was located. In the city of Yekaterinburg, to the right of the entrance to the educational building of the Ural Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, in 2010, a memorial plaque was opened in commemoration of a graduate of the university - police captain Dmitry Novosyolov.
• At the end of February in the city of Chelyabinsk an open Cup of the city in bullet shooting takes place annually, dedicated to the memory of Hero of Russia Dmitry Novosyolov.
• Since 2006, in the city of Yekaterinburg, on the basis of the sports and training complex of the Ural Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, an annual sambo tournament among juniors dedicated to the memory of Hero of Russia Dmitry Novosyolov is held annually.
