Story

Mr. Hankey appears as the “lead” in the episode; he sits in a house by the fireplace and presents each of the songs performed. The episode is dedicated to the memory of Mary Kay Bergman , voiced in the series of female characters, who committed suicide about a month before the episode.

The following songs sound in the episode (either of their own composition, or traditional, often with slightly modified words):

  • Mr. Hankey the Christmas Poo . It is performed by the postman, which was copied from the Santa Claus Is Coming to Town Christmas host (originally voiced by Fred Astaire ). Also involved are children, none of whom are permanent characters in the series.
  • Dreidel Dreidel Dreidel. The Hanukkah song is performed by Kyle , Ike , Sheila and Gerald Broflovsky along with Stan Marsh and Eric Cartman .
  • O Tannenbaum performed by Adolf Hitler .
  • Christmas Time In Hell. Performed by Satan and the inhabitants of Hell , including John F. Kennedy , Princess Diana and Jeffrey Damer .
  • Carol of the Bells performed by Mr. Mackey .
  • O Holy Night performed by Eric Cartman .
  • Merry Fucking Christmas performed by Mr. Harrison .
  • I Saw Three Ships performed by Shelly Marsh .
  • Potpourri performed by Santa and Jesus :
    • Joy to the world
    • Up on the house top
    • Away in a manger
    • O Come All Ye Faithful
    • Hark! The herald angels sing
    • Silent night
    • Rio
    • Let it snow
  • Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas performed by Mr. Hankey and other characters.

Kenny's death

Despite the fact that the episode includes clips of Christmas songs performed by different characters in different settings, Kenny dies in it anyway. During the last song, “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”, four boys sing: “Through the years we all will be together, if the fates allow” ( Rus. We will be together for many years, if fate allows ), and this a moment a decorated chandelier falls on Kenny and kills him. For a few seconds, the boys look shocked, but nevertheless the song continues, and in the future no one mentions the dead. During the ending of the song, it is noticeable how the rats eat Kenny's corpse.

Characters

In this episode, for the first time, apart from the short film "The Spirit of Christmas ", Santa appears.

CD

The disc associated with the episode was released about a week before the episode was released - November 23, 1999. It included all the songs sounded in the series, except for the potpourri performed by Santa and Jesus, which was not included on the disc due to copyright difficulties for the songs included in it. In addition, the disc included songs performed by the characters of the series, but not heard in any episode, as well as songs from several earlier episodes of the South Park.
