In December 2003, the Japanese automobile company Honda introduced its first aircraft designed for serial production and serial sales. This is the first aircraft in Japan, entirely (including engines) manufactured by one company without any government support.
For the aircraft, Honda developed the HF118 dual-circuit turbojet engine and tested it for a year by installing it on the left pylon of the Citation Jet aircraft.
Honda plans to sell the Hondajet in the US as a lightweight, low-cost business jet.
