Administrative-territorial structure
According to the Law "On the administrative-territorial structure of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug ", the subject of the Russian Federation includes the following administrative-territorial units : [1]

The administrative center of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug is the city of Salekhard .

As part of the municipal structure of the Autonomous Okrug, 55 municipalities were formed within the boundaries of the administrative-territorial units of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug: [3]

History
In the late XIX - early XX centuries, the territory of the present Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug belonged to the Berezovsky district of the Tobolsk province , which was divided into 2 volosts, 5 foreign volosts and 2 foreign governments. In the early 1920s the territory of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug was occupied by the Obdorsk region .
- 1930 . By the decree of the Presidium of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee , the Yamal (Nenets) national district was organized as a part of the Ural Region in 4 districts: Nadym (center - Khe , in 1972 the center was transferred to Nadym ), Priuralsky (center - Shchuchye, later transferred to Aksarka ), Tazovsky (center - Halmer -Seda , later renamed Tazovskoye ) and Yamalsky (the center is the Pyaty-Yun River area, and since 1932 - Yar-Sale ).
- 1932 . Formed Purovsky district .
- January 1934 . The district is assigned to the Ob-Irtysh region .
- December 1934. The district is assigned to the Omsk region .
- 1937 . Shuryshkarsky district was transferred from the Ostyak-Vogulsky Non-Commercial Organization .
- On August 14, 1944 , the District was transferred from the Omsk Region to the newly formed Tyumen Region . Krasnoselkupsky district was transferred to the district from the Krasnoyarsk Territory . Gydoyamsky and Tambeysky areas are formed.
- June 4, 1946 Gydoyamsky and Tambeysky districts are abolished.

- On March 9, 1972 , the working village of Nadym received the status of a city of district subordination.
- On August 5, 1975 , the working village of Labytnangi was transformed into a city of district subordination.
- On October 7, 1977 , in accordance with the new Constitution, the national district was transformed into an autonomous region.
- June 16, 1980 the village of Novy Urengoy received the status of a city of district subordination.
- On April 28, 1982 , the working village of Noyabrsk received the status of a city of district subordination.
- On August 6, 1990 , the village of Muravlenkovsky received the status of a city of district subordination and the name Muravlenko .
- On December 2, 1996 , the working village of Gubkinsky received the status of a city of district significance.
