Functionality
Principle of Operation
The user can subscribe to newsletters using the Google Reader search engine or by entering an immediate URL . New messages will appear on the left side of the screen as a list, which can then be sorted by date or relevance.
Sharing Access
Entries in Google Reader can be shared among multiple users. This can be achieved by sending the user a link to a shared resource by e-mail . However, the functionality of Google Reader allows a group of users to create a website that will include all messages related to their account. Other users may be notified of changes to this collective page.
Offline
Google Reader was the first service using Google Gears - a browser extension that allows you to "work on the network" while being offline. Users who install this extension can download up to 2,000 entries for offline reading, and after connecting to the network, Google Reader updates them.
Mobile Access
The Google Reader mobile access interface appeared on May 18, 2006 . To use it, the phone requires support for XHTML and WAP 2.0 technologies .
Personal homepage
On May 4, 2006, new functionality was added that allowed the user to post all messages from his subscription on his personal page.
