About the album
The name literally translates as "Joe's Garage . " Joe is the protagonist of this rock opera - a stereotypical musician of a young “garage” group (that is, rehearsing in the garage), who willingly or not passes through the miasms of show business . Zappa voices the character with the mechanical voice “Central Scrutinizer” (literally: the central thorough researcher ), acting as a storyteller.
The album was originally released as two releases: the first act was released as "Joe's Garage. Act I ", and the second and third came out with a double album" Joe's Garage. Acts II & III. " All three acts were subsequently released together as a triple album ( box set of records), and a set of two CDs.
