Biography
From 1541 to 1544 he worked on the interior decoration of the church of Saint-Germain-l'Oserua ( French: Saint-Germain-l'Auxerrois ). From 1545 - over the mansion of the Carnival ( French Hôtel Carnavalet ), the castle of Jacques de Linieri.
In 1546, King Francis I appointed Pierre Lescot responsible for the reconstruction of the Louvre (at that time - the fortress). Instead of the project of the famous Italian architect Sebastiano Serlio , the Lesco project was chosen. He proposed the design of a square courtyard surrounded on three sides by luxurious apartments, and from the east the courtyard should open towards the city center. Perhaps the fourth side should have been blocked by a light arcade. Ornate corner pavilions decorated with columns and statues were to replace the medieval corner towers. However, the architect managed to do relatively little.
Francis I soon died, the new king Henry II left Lesko in his former post. Although Lesko worked on a project to build the Louvre until his death, he managed to complete only the west wing and part of the south. Now the western wing of the “square courtyard” is called Aile Lescot (“Lesko Wing”). In its design, Lesko used what would later be called an attic roof , named after the French architect François Mansard . However, the first in France who realized the idea of such an economical use of the last floor was Lesko [1] .
Work on the building was completed 9 years later, in 1555, under King Henry II and became a prime example of Renaissance architecture in France.
Also, the works of Pierre Lesko include the “ Fountain of the Innocent ” and Valerie Castle .
Lesko often worked with sculptor Jean Goujon . He was closely acquainted with the writer Pierre de Ronsard .
