His father, a gardener by profession, was an amateur violinist. He taught his two sons to play the violin and, discovering the talent of Jan, who was then five years old, organized his training with Karel Weber and Karel Ondřicek .
At the age of eight, he studied at the Prague Conservatory , a student of Otakar Shevchik . Concerted around the world since 1898. One of the best violin virtuosos of his time. Author of original music, including six concerts for violin and orchestra.
On May 11, 1940, he had a concert in the Sokol House hall in Neveklov. This was his last public appearance. He died in Prague from cancer. He was buried in the Vysehrad cemetery [6] .
