Sergey Ievlev Kubasov is a Tobolsk boyar son, a scribe, and maybe a compiler of one of the 17th century chronographs.
This chronograph consists of three parts: the first contains general historical articles taken from the first edition chronograph, the second contains articles on the history of Russia before Ivan the Terrible , compiled from the chronograph and annals; the third part has a special title “Tales” and describes the events of the reign of Ivan the Terrible and the Time of Troubles . For a long time, "The Tale" was considered an independent work of Kubasov. Professor Klyuchevsky (Boyar Duma, Moscow, 1882 , p. 375) was the first to indicate that the author of the Tale was not Kubasov, but Prince Ivan Mikhailovich Katyrev-Rostovsky . This part of the chronograph was printed by A. Popov in his Izbornik (M., 1869 ).
