Biography

He came from the nobility of the Moscow province [1] , was born on June 2, 1819 and graduated from the course in the 1st Moscow Cadet Corps; On August 8, 1839, he was promoted to ensign and assigned to the 17th artillery brigade, from where in 1844 he was transferred to the 14th artillery brigade.

Since that time, Zolotukhin’s military service began, first in expeditions against the rebellious highlanders (in the Chechen detachment, 1844–1845), then in foreign campaigns in the Danube principalities (1849–1850) and, finally, in Crimea (1854–1855 ) , and he was in Sevastopol during the first bombardment of this city on October 5, 1854. At that time, Zolotukhin, as headquarters captain , repeatedly commanded the battery, showing at the same time a lot of courage, composure and order. For the differences shown during a sortie in the first distance of the defensive line of Sevastopol, he was granted the Order of St. Vladimir of the 4th degree with swords and a bow, and for the same difference in the battle of the Black River on August 4, 1855, was promoted to captain .

In 1856, Zolotukhin was appointed commander of the light number 6 battery of the 3rd Grenadier Artillery Brigade and in 1859 he was approved as its commander. Appointed in 1877 as the commander of the 3rd artillery brigade, he took part in the Russian-Turkish war of 1877-1878. , first consisting in the detachment of Prince Imeretinsky , and then in the Lovche-Selvinsky and Troyanovsky detachments, and for distinctions when taking Lovchi he was awarded a golden saber with the inscription "For courage" , for participating in affairs near Plevna he was awarded the Order of St. 3rd degree Vladimir with swords and June 2, 1878, for the difference in mastering the Troyanovsky pass from the battle and taking the Orlyn nest, was promoted to major general (with seniority of December 29, 1877).

Zolotukhin’s participation in 4 campaigns could not but affect his health, which was especially noticeably shaken upon his return from European Turkey in 1878. However, he remained in service until his death, which followed on December 24, 1885 in Moscow .

Among other awards, Zolotukhin had the orders of St. Stanislav 1st degree (1880) and St. Annes of the 1st degree (1884).
