Biography

Born July 4 ( 16 ), 1841 .

He received his medical education at the St. Petersburg Medical and Surgical Academy , from which he graduated in 1868; then for two years he worked at the Department of Pathological Anatomy at M. M. Rudnev . In 1870 he defended his doctoral dissertation "On pathological and anatomical changes in the lungs of syphilitics." Since 1871, he was a prosector at the University of Warsaw, Department of Forensic Medicine at the same time taught private pathology and therapy. In 1873-1899 (even, according to some reports, until 1902 [1] ) - professor of the Department of Pathological Anatomy of the Medical Faculty of Kharkov University .

He created a school of domestic pathomorphologists, which include B.K. Vysokovich , K.F. Yelenevsky, A.I. Moiseev , I.F. Pozharsky , C. L. Erlikh and others.

In his scientific works, he was one of the first in Russia to develop the doctrine of anthropometry and body types. Under the guidance of V.P. Krylov, a unique work was published - "School Chronicle" - an account of 506 student essays with the development of sectional material and their careful analysis. V.P. Krylov is also known as a publisher-translator of textbooks on pathological anatomy, including: Interstitial pneumonia / [Op.] [Prof. Th. Juergensen'a] (1881), Manual on autopsy, / Op. Dr. Hugo Mittenzweig (Kharkov: typ. M. Zilberberg, 1878), Essay on pathological histology with special attention to the research methodology / [Op.] Dr. Anton Weixelbaum (Kharkov, 1894. - 592 p.), Guide to pathological diagnosis and autopsy / [Op.] Dr. I. Orth (Kharkov: typ. M. Zilberberg, 1877. - 572 p.), Essay on General Histology / [Op.] Dr. I. Disse (Kharkov: typ. A. Darre, 1893).

V.P. Krylov took an active part in the activities of the Kharkov Medical Society , which, after his death, published in two volumes "Collection in memory of Professor Vladimir Platonovich Krylov" (Kharkov, 1907-1912).
