Biography
Born on July 25, 1941 in a Moldavian peasant family in the village of Pochumbeuchi, Ryshkan zudedets Bessarabia occupied by Romania. However, he himself considers his family not Moldovan, but Romanian, since he was born in the year of Romanian rule over Bessarabia. He graduated from the Leningrad University , Moscow University, and the postgraduate program at the Institute of Latin America of the USSR Academy of Sciences . By profession - economist, psychologist, translator, speaks several foreign languages, including four fluently. He worked in manufacturing and in higher education, engaged in science.
In the early 1970s, he was expelled from the CPSU "for his tolerant attitude towards nationalist views."

Attempts to restore his membership were unsuccessful. The facsimile of Druk’s 1974 letter to the head of the Party Control Committee at the CPSU Central Committee A. Ya. Pelshe , in which Druk writes: “I was, is and will be a communist, and therefore I appeal to you to return the party ticket to me ...” [2]
In 1989–1990, before being elected chairman of the Council of Ministers of the MSSR, M. Druk worked as the general director of the National Center for Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries in Chisinau .
From May 25, 1990 to May 28, 1991 he served as prime minister of the SSRM . At the same time, in 1990, he was a member of the Presidential Council of Moldova and the leader of the parliamentary faction of the Moldavian Federation . In December 1991, becomes chairman of the national reunification council. In February 1992 he was elected chairman of the Christian Democratic Popular Front of Moldova .

Repatriation to Romania
On June 4, 1992, he restored his Romanian citizenship by birth. In the same year deprived of parliamentary powers [3] .
In August 1992, he moved permanently to Romania. He was an independent presidential candidate in Romania on the elections of September 27, 1992, as a result of which he gained 2.75% of the vote.
