The Belarusian Labor Party was founded on the founding congress on November 25, 1993 .

The party had a center-left social democratic ideology. [1] The goal of the party was: "Building a democratic civil society in the Republic of Belarus and creating a state of law based on the principles of spiritual, political and economic human freedom, well-being, morality, social justice and citizens' consent." In 2004, there were 1,650 party members in the TUB. She was supported by many trade union activists.

Chairman of the party - Alexander Bukhvostov, chairman of the trade union of automobile and agricultural engineering workers. By self-determination, it is a party of "social democratic, labor orientation." The party was created for the purpose of political support of the trade union and labor movement through the protection and representation of its interests in government, in the press, in elections. The Belarusian Independent Association of Industrial Trade Unions (A. Bukhvostov - co-chairman of the association), democratically-minded trade union and labor movement supporters of trade union reform initiated the creation of the BTU.

In the parliamentary elections in Belarus, October 13-17, 2004, the party was part of the “People’s Coalition 5+”, which did not win seats in parliament.

On August 2, 2004, the Supreme Court liquidated the Belarusian Party of Labor [2] . However, the party continued its informal activities. The reason for the liquidation was the suit of the Ministry of Justice. The Justice Ministry has accused the party of systematically violating the Civil Code, the law on political parties and its own charter. Alexander Bukhvostov believes that the Belarusian Labor Party was liquidated "at the political order of the authorities."

But since 2004, there has been an initiative group to create a new Belarusian Party of Workers ( Belor. Belarusan Party of Pratsy ), created on the basis of independent trade unions, which included 24 members of the Council of the abolished BGT. The group met at least 3-4 times a year.

The Belarusian Workers Party plans to become the successor to the Belarusian Party of Labor. The process of creating the Belarusian Party of Workers began in 2004, immediately after the liquidation of the Belarusian Party of Labor.

On July 26, 2009 a constituent congress of a new party was held. It was attended by 65 delegates from all regions of Belarus. Alexander Bukhvostov was elected chairman. Nikolai Pokhabov, Tatyana Vanina and Andrei Evdokimovich were elected deputy chairmen of the party. At the congress, the program and the charter of the BTU were also adopted. However, the authorities did not recognize the congress, refusing to register the party.

In 2009, the Belarusian Workers Party numbered 1,025 participants.

The Organizing Committee for the creation of the Belarusian Workers Party supported the nomination of the leader of the Belarusian Left Party “Fair World” Sergey Kalyakin as a presidential candidate in the 2015 elections .

The party does not have an Internet site.
