The 4th Koporsky Infantry Regiment also fought in the Borodino field. Then his soldiers freed Bulgaria from the Turkish dependence, and in the Russian-Japanese war they fought at Port Arthur, near Liaoyan, and Mukden. In the First World Regiment he fought against the Germans, fought in Galicia, participated in the Brusilov breakthrough, in the battles of Lvov and in the Carpathians. In the February revolution, the 4th Koporsky collapsed, but its core of 250 people went over to the side of the Bolsheviks, left for Staraya Russa, where it joined the 10th Novgorod Rifle Regiment. After the civil war, the military unit was reformed into the 312nd Novgorod Infantry Regiment. As part of the 26th Zlatoust Red Banner Rifle Division, the regiment arrived on the North-Western Front on September 19, 1941. Three days later, the division took the first battle from the former district center Lychkovo. Then the Novgorod regiment fought near Luzhno, in the area of Staraya Russa, liberated the town of Kholm [1] (inaccessible link) .
In the Leningrad Military District there is a regiment that has really preserved its history! I went there myself - back in the years of perestroika, I helped them from the Central Committee of the Komsomol. One of the battalions of the 4th Infantry Regiment of Koporsky, established in 1803 and disbanded in 1917, turned into a regiment of the Red Army, and then the Soviet Army. The command was interested in this, enthusiasts created a museum there, found some uniforms, even made a Borodino diorama ... Moreover, they received the banner of the Koporsky regiment somewhere and taking the oath began with the removal of not only Fighting Red, but also this banner [2] .
