Biography

Born on December 14, 1955 in the village of Gribany, Mogilev Region, Belarusian SSR. In 1960, the family moved to Novorossiysk .

In 1970 he graduated from high school. In 1970 he entered the Uritsky Agricultural State Farm College in the Kustanai region of the Kazakh USSR, which he graduated in 1975 with honors. Since 1975, he worked as a livestock specialist for the Pervomaisky state farm in the Anapsky District of the Krasnodar Territory. In 1976, he simultaneously entered the correspondence department of the Kuban Agricultural Institute [1] .

In 1981-1985 he studied at the Leningrad Theological Seminary [1] .

In April 1985, Smolensk was ordained a deacon, then a priest. He served in the Assumption Cathedral of Smolensk [1] .

In February 1986, he was appointed rector of the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Vyazma and the Dean of the Vyazemsky District of the Smolensk Diocese [1] .

In April 1986 he took monastic tonsure [1] .

In 1987, he was appointed a member of the Diocesan Council and responsible for missionary work in the Kaliningrad Deanery. In the same year he entered the Moscow Theological Academy [1] .

In 1988 he was elevated to the rank of abbot [1] .

In 1989, he was appointed rector of the church in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow" in Desnogorsk and acting dean of the Vyazemsky District [1] .

In 1990, he was a delegate from the diocesan assembly at the Local Council of the Russian Orthodox Church [1] .

January 7, 1991 was appointed rector of St. Nicholas Cathedral in Kaliningrad [2] .

Bishops

February 23, 1993 by the decision of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church on the report of Metropolitan of Smolensk and Kaliningrad, Cyril was elected bishop of the Baltic, vicar of the Smolensk diocese [3] . Soon he was elevated to the rank of archimandrite .

May 2, 1993 in the Assumption Cathedral of Smolensk was ordained bishop of the Baltic, Vicar of the Smolensk-Kaliningrad diocese . In the same year he graduated in absentia from the Moscow Theological Academy .

On May 5, 1995, he was included in the composition of a member of the special working group on planning the revival of the Orthodox mission of the Russian Orthodox Church on its canonical territory [1] .

Religious scholar R.N. Lunkin notes that as a bishop of the Baltic, Panteleimon communicated “with Lutherans , Catholics , repeatedly expressed his respect for the Baptists and Pentecostals, ” and also indicates that he promised the Lutherans that they would return the churches when “at Orthodox will have enough Orthodox churches ”and“ after the formation of a branch of the Catholic College of Thomas Aquinas in Kaliningrad, Bishop Panteleimon began to sign his diplomas ” [4] .

On December 28, 2000 he was appointed bishop of Maykop and Adygea [5] .

February 25, 2005 was elevated to the rank of archbishop [6] .

On May 27, 2009, by decision of the Holy Synod, the Russian Orthodox Church was appointed ruling bishop of the Oryol diocese [7] .

On October 5, 2011, by the decision of the Holy Synod, he was appointed Archbishop of Krasnoyarsk and Achinsk [8] .

October 6, 2011 was appointed head of the Krasnoyarsk Metropolis . October 8, 2011 was elevated to the rank of Metropolitan Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill in the Assumption Cathedral of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra [9] .

On December 28, 2011, the Holy Synod singled out the Kanskaya from the Krasnoyarsk diocese and appointed Metropolitan Panteleimon its interim manager [10] . He ruled this diocese until the election of Archimandrite Filaret (Gusev) on March 16, 2012 as its ruling bishop [11] .

On December 28, 2018, he was also appointed temporary administrator of the Yenisei Diocese [12] .
