Biography

Pepin, called Landensky (in the town of Landennu, in modern Belgium ) or the Elder, was the son of Karloman and belonged to a wealthy and noble family, hereditary possessions, which lay in Australia along the rivers Meuse and Mosel . He was one of those representatives of the Austrian nobility who, in enmity with Brünnhilde , invited King Neustria Chlothar II to Australia. Hlotar II appointed Pipin as the successor of Hugo to the post of Austrian mayordom , and then as one of the guardians of his young son Dagobert I.

When Dagobert, after the death of his father, became king of Australia, Neustria and Burgundy , he kept Pepin at his court in Neustria and Pepin re-assumed the post of mayor of Australia only under Sigibert III . Chronicles report that Pepin "controlled the people of Australia with caution, honor and kindness and tied them all to himself with bonds of friendship . "

Pipin of Landensky died in 640, leaving his sons, St. Bavon and Grimoald , and daughters Beggu and Gertrude from marriage with St. Itta .
