History
During the Great Patriotic War, there was a reserve military airfield in the area of the present settlement. In 1951, preparations began for the Vaenga-3 airdrome for receiving and servicing aircraft. On May 3, 1951, the chief engineer of the project, Mazur, and the architect A. A. Vaysman went to inspect the site and reached their destination in 10 hours. In the same year, the future airfield and village were renamed Severomorsk-3. March 14, 1952 - the beginning of the deployment of 987 naval missile-carrying aviation regiment - is considered the birthday of the village.
In the summer of 1956 , the Severomorsk -Severomorsk-3 highway was opened.
In 1993, 987 naval missile-carrying regiment and other units were disbanded. Then the garrison was on the verge of closure. Currently, the settlement has mainly four and five-story buildings. There are general education and music schools, 3 libraries, a kindergarten, the House of Officers, shops, an outpatient clinic, and a pharmacy. The Orthodox parish of the Introduction to the Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary operates.
