About the album
This is the first (and subsequently the only) album released by the group on 10 Records. The song All Men Play on 10 (βAll men play at 10β) beats the name of the new label, comparing it with the maximum volume setting.
Sign of the Hammer is viewed by many Manowar fans as the last album made by the band before they changed their style to a more direct and less epic, but with greater commercial success (like the album " Fighting the World ").
βGuyana (Cult Of The Damned)β is a 1978 mass suicide song, initiated by Jim Jones , leader of the Temple of the Nations cult, in Jonestown , Northwestern Guyana .
βThor (The Powerhead)β is a song about the Scandinavian god Thor destroying evil, and also about giants (enemies of the gods). The followers of the Nordic ( German-Scandinavian ) faith believe that at the end of the Universe, gods and giants will fight in the battle for power (see Ragnarok ). It is predicted that all monsters and most of the gods will die in the battle.
