He graduated from the Polytechnic College in Prague ( 1848 ), where he studied chemistry and mineralogy. Since 1849, he was in charge of the mineralogical collection of the Prague National Museum . In 1860 - 1862 he was the director of the gymnasium in Pisek , then returned to Prague, taught at the Polytechnic School, from 1864 - professor, and after the school was transformed into the Polytechnic University in 1867 - 1871, was its rector. Since 1881 - professor at Charles University in Prague.
Kreichy’s fundamental work is the book “Geology, or the Science of the Forms of the Earth, with a Special Attention to the Landscapes of Czechoslovakia” ( Czech Geologie čili nauka o tvarech zemských se zvláštním ohledem na krajiny Československé ; 1879 ). He also described his Travels in Germany, Switzerland, France and England ( 1862 ), left a number of other works on mineralogy, orography, zoology, etc.
