Crater ( ancient Greek Κρατερός ; before 320 BC - 260th years BC ) was an ancient Greek military leader, statesman and lawyer of ancient Greece of the Early Hellenistic period , an uterine brother of Antigone Gonat .

Biography
Crater - the son of commander Crater and daughter of Antipater Fila .
He was in the service of his stepfather, Demetrius I Poliorket , taking, including, participation in the battle of Ipsa . Subsequently, he helped his youngest (maternal) brother, Antigonus Gonatha, to gain power in Macedonia. In 280/279 BC er Antigonus appointed Crater ruler of Greece (with residence in Corinth ).
In 272 BC. er Crater took part in a successful campaign for Antigonus against King Epirus Pyrrhus .
In the 270s BC. er in order to resist the attempts of Sparta to increase its influence, Crater came to the aid of Aristodemus of Elida . In 265 BC. er defeated the Spartan king Ares I.
The crater collected Athenian folk decrees and similar documents, mainly according to the inscriptions, under the title " Συναγωγή ψηφισμάτων ". Preserved excerpts from this work, which, in addition to acts included comments and to them. They are mentioned in the writings of Garpocration and Stephen of Byzantine .
The wife of Crater was named Nicaea [1] , and her son, Alexander .
