Biography
Richards adjoined the Hudson School and first participated in an exhibition in the city of New Bedford in 1858 - the exhibition was organized by Albert Bierstadt . Known primarily as the author of watercolor landscapes - in the 1870s, usually mountainous (views of the White Mountains in New Hampshire ), then to a greater extent marine. Richards' work approached photographic accuracy.
Died April 17, 1905 in Philadelphia, buried in the city cemetery Laurel Hill Cemetery . [1] Wife - Anna Matlack Richards (1835-1900), daughter - Eleanor French Richards (1862-1954).
Richards paintings are available in many leading museums in the United States , starting with the Metropolitan Museum of Art .
