It dates back to the 17th century . It is recorded in the VI part of the genealogical book of the Moscow province . One root with Protasov . The son of the Mtsensk voivode Grigory Protasevich Ivan Grigoryevich with his son Konon in 1425 “left” to serve in the service of Grand Duke Vasily I Dmitrievich . Another son of Ivan Grigoryevich, Matvey Ivanovich , whose grandson Grigory Vasilyevich , nicknamed Chegoday, became the ancestor of the Chaadayevs.
Two genera of the Chaadayevs were introduced into the Herbovnik:
- The Chaadaevs, the offspring of Ivan Artemievich Chaadaeva, who was recruited by the local salary in 1621. (Coat of arms. Part IX. No. 42).
- The Cheodaevs, who served the noble services in 1680. (Coat of arms. Part X. No. 85) [1] .
Chaadaev - from the Turkic-Mongolian nickname Chagatai - brave. The name appears among other Russians back in the 15th century , for example, Vasily Chegoday with lands near Murom. Perhaps the ancestors are connected with Kazan, since Chaadaev Saturday Grigoriev , the streletsky head, was marked here under 1568. The Chaadaevs were recorded in the nobility in 1621.
The coat of arms of the Chaadayev family is included in Part 9 of the General Tombstone of the noble families of the All-Russian Empire, p. 42.
