Jean Krantz ( fr. Jean Marie Émile Achille Krantz ; September 12, 1849 , Nancy - June 1, 1925 , Nancy) is a French philologist .

Biography
Jean Krantz was born on September 12, 1849 in Nancy . He studied at the Higher Normal School in Paris since 1873 , finished it in third place in 1877 [1] . In 1882 he defended his thesis for the degree of Doctor of Philology. From 1883 he worked as a professor of French literature at the University of Nancy . He was appointed Dean of the Faculty of Philology in 1890 , Honorary Dean - in 1902 . In 1919, he resigned. He died on June 1, 1925 in Nancy.
In his doctoral thesis: “Essai sur l'Esthétique de Descartes” (1882), Krantz considered the relationship between Cartesian philosophy and classical literature of the 17th century . He also owns (except for critical articles in journals) L'art en Lorraine ( 1886 ) and Etude sur Grandville.
