Biography
Participants in the duet - brother and sister - Karen (Karin, b. 1952) and Anders (Anders, b. 1953) Glenmark ( Glenmark ) - were born in a musical family that owned a recording studio Glen Studio in Stockholm. In this studio in the early 1970s, the popular Swedish quartet ABBA was recorded - Anders even played the guitar in the famous song "Money, money, money". Already in the 1960s, Karen and Anders participated in various groups, and in the 1970s they organized the group The Glenmarks, which gained some recognition and popularity in the Scandinavian countries. In 1983, The Glenmarks won the Knokke Cup at a competition in Belgium, and in 1984 they participated in the Melodifestivalen - the Swedish national qualifying round for the Eurovision Song Contest .
The musical " Chess " (1984)
Anders Glenmark took an active part in the creation of the musical “Chess”, the composers of which were Björn Ulveus and Benny Andersson . In addition, Anders and Karen performed the roles of the main backing vocalists. Anders performed the song “ One Night in Bangkok ” together with Murray Head : Murray read the recitative in the verse, and Anders sang the chorus. This song very soon became a world hit, in particular, reached the third position in the charts of Sweden. Later, Karen and Anders Glenmark performed the parts of Florence and Frederic in the Swedish production of “Chess”.
Gemini
Gemini became one of the many projects created by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulveus after the breakup of ABBA. The vocal parts were performed by Karen and Anders, and the music was played by session musicians who had previously worked with the famous Swedish quartet. The official debut of "Gemini" was the song " Just Like That ", which Andersson and Ulveus wrote for ABBA in 1982, but then the song remained in draft form and was not published . In the new version, “Just Like That” immediately became Sweden’s national hit, however the Gemini album following the single sold poorly even in Sweden itself (it was only No. 9).
In 1987, the duo released their second album, Geminism . The main hit from him was the song " Mio, my Mio ", which Karin performed for the children's movie of the same name. The new album received more recognition in Europe, but despite this, the duo ceased to exist.
