District location

Prioksky district occupies the south-eastern part of the city. It is located on the steep right bank of the Oka River . The district is bordered in the north by the Soviet urban area, in the west (along the Oka River) by the Avtozavodsky urban area, in the east and south - by the Kstovsky district of the Nizhny Novgorod region , in the south-south-west - by the Bogorodsky district of the Nizhny Novgorod region .

District History

The Prioksky district was formed in 1935 , when, during the reorganization of the city, six districts were created instead of four previously existing ones. Then he was called Mysinsky .

In March 1936, by order of the Gorky regional executive committee, it was renamed Voroshilovsky. At that time, the district consisted of the Old, New, Barachny, Dachny settlements, Tolmachevka, Schelokovsky farm, Tobolsk barracks, the villages of Aleksandrovka , Dubyonki , Krasnaya Zarya , Sluda .

Since 1956, the district has its modern name - Prioksky . It was formed by combining the territories of Voroshilovsky and Zhdanovsky districts of Gorky. In 1970 , the territory of the present-day Soviet district and a part of the territory of the Nizhny Novgorod region were separated from it. Today, the neighboring villages also belong to the Prioksky district: Olgino, Beshentsevo, Mordvintsevo, the village of Middlekonstantinovo, Lyakhovo, the village of Luch.

Brief information about the villages included in the Prioksky district

From the name of the Manor there are secondary names: the village of Mana, the railway station Manza , Myzinsky Bridge , Myzinskaya Street.

  • Olgino - at the entrance to the city from the south. The village is known from the 40s of the XIX century. The name is connected with the fact that the landowner V.P. Kozlov acquired this territory from the city of Sudogda and settled it with serfs, giving the village to his daughter Olga (O.V. Bibikova). In the city since 1970 . Currently, most of the village’s population is Roma .
  • Shcherbinki - a village on the Arzamas road (highway). Located in the southern part of the district. The ancient name Novtsy is known by the chronicle instructions that in 1171 there was a battle between the Mordovians and the army of Prince Andrew Bogolyubsky’s son Mstislav. Novtsy is the Russian name for a place inhabited or plowed up quite recently. The second, later Shcherbinka name was explained by the dents on the road in this area.
