Jíčín ( Czech Jičín [ ˈjˈtʃiːn ]) is a city in the Czech Republic , 85 km northeast of Prague , on the edge of the Czech Paradise Nature Reserve . The administrative center of the Jicin district .

Content
History
Albrecht von Wallenstein acquired the city in 1621 and planned to make it the capital of his duchy Friedland . With his death in 1634, the city fell into the hands of Rudolf von Tiefenbach and became an ordinary provincial city.
June 29, 1866, during the Austro-Prussian-Italian war , near Jicin, a battle took place between the Austro-Saxon army and the Prussian troops [2] .

Sport
- Orienteering - in 1972, the fourth summer orienteering world championship was held in Jicin. Liisa Vejalainen , the leader of the Finnish women's team, brilliantly held her final stage and led the Finnish women's team to the first gold medal in the relay. In men, the Swedish team celebrated the victory.
