Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education Omsk State Technical University ( Omsk State Technical University ) is a higher educational institution in Omsk . The University was organized as the Omsk Machine-Building Institute in 1942 by Decree of the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR No. 1828 of November 16, 1942. History
Omsk Engineering Institute
It was founded in 1942 as the Omsk Machine-Building Institute (OMSI) by reorganizing the Voroshilovgrad evening machine-building institute, which was evacuated to Omsk in December 1941 during the Great Patriotic War .
The first students of Omsk machine-building were young people evacuated from Moscow, Leningrad, Kiev and other cities. At that time, two faculties were created at the institute: technological and engineering, training was conducted in the following specialties: engineering technology, tool production; hoisting and transporting machines and construction machinery, forging machines and metal forming, foundry machines and foundry. There were 7 departments: Marxism-Leninism and political economy, higher mathematics and theoretical mechanics, descriptive geometry and drawing, physics and heat engineering, chemistry, technical mechanics, and electrical engineering.
Teachers and students of the Omsk Engineering Institute participated in the hostilities. For military merits during the Great Patriotic War I.I. Grankin was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union , 7 war participants were awarded the Order of the Red Banner of War , 20 - Order of the Patriotic War I and II degrees, 1 - Order of Alexander Nevsky, 40 - Order of the Red Star . 369 employees and students of the institute received medals for participating in hostilities.
In the summer of 1944, the Institute was allocated a building at the address ul. Dolgireva, 60, which used to house a high school. In this building, diplomas were awarded to the first twenty-two graduates of the institute in the spring of 1946. Diploma No. 1 was received by Valery Alekseevich Tyshkevich, who for the next 50 years worked within the walls of the institute, led the evening mechanical-technological faculty, and headed the department of theoretical mechanics.
In the post-war period, there is a significant replenishment of the teaching staff by experienced practice leaders. On March 5, 1946, by order of the USSR People’s Commissariat for the significant work of the institute in the difficult conditions of the Great Patriotic War, the teaching staff is awarded with badges, certificates "Excellent student of socialist competition" and prizes.
In accordance with the order of the Ministry of Higher Education of the USSR No. 152 of 10/14/1947, the institute was reorganized. Institutional bodies approved: Institute Council, Methodical Council. The Faculty of Technology expanded its name, becoming a mechanical-technological; two evening faculties and a correspondence department were created.
In 1956, a new faculty appeared - hot metal processing. In the 1960s, the Instrument Engineering Faculty was opened with full-time and evening forms of study in three specialties, the correspondence faculty with general technical training in groups of engineering and energy specialties.
Omsk Polytechnic Institute
In 1963, the Omsk Machine-Building Institute, on the basis of an order of the Ministry of Higher and Special Secondary Education of the RSFSR (No. 470 of 07/19/1963) was reorganized into the Omsk Polytechnic Institute (OMPI).
By 1967, the Omsk Polytechnic launched the preparation of students in 20 specialties. The Faculty of Automation and the Printing Faculty appear. The number of departments reaches 25.
In 1993, it was renamed Omsk State Technical University by order of the State Committee of the Russian Federation for Higher Education No. 55 of July 5, 1993.
University today
The University has a license No. 1992 dated March 14, 2016 for educational activities and a certificate of state accreditation No. 1812 dated March 25, 2016 issued by the Federal Service for Supervision of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
The University has 7 institutes conducting educational activities, a research institute of radio electronics and instrumentation, and 7 faculties. OmSTU has 17 scientific and educational resource centers, more than 30 research laboratories, 49 small enterprises, 19 student design bureaus, on the basis of which students put into practice their knowledge and are engaged in scientific development. About 15,000 full-time, evening and correspondence students study at the university. The university has about 1,600 employees, more than 800 of whom are teachers, most of whom are candidates and doctors of science. The university also has the second largest library in Omsk.
The university’s quality management system fully complies with the requirements of GOST R ISO 9001-2001 and a certificate of conformity To No. 09486 has been received.
In June 2014, the base department of the Gazprom Neft company was opened at the university, where training is conducted in the specialties Chemical Technology of Natural Energy Carriers of Carbon Materials and Machines and Apparatuses for Chemical Production [4] .
On March 17, 2016, as part of the formation in the Omsk region of a regional reference university, the Omsk State University of Design and Technology was joined to Omsk State Technical University as a structural unit. [5]
