Chavish (more precisely Chavash port. Chaves ; [ 'ʃavɨʃ ]) - a city in Portugal , the center of the municipality of the same name in the district of Vila Real . Population - 17.5 thousand inhabitants (city), 44.2 thousand inhabitants (municipality). The city and the municipality are included in the economic and statistical region Northern Region and the Altu-Traz-u-Montisch subregion. According to the old administrative division, it was part of the province of Traz-u-Montish and Altu-Douro .
