History
In 1853 [2] Kurganskaya stanitsa was founded by linear Cossacks . The name is given by abundance in the territory of the village and in the vicinity of the mounds . The village was part of the Labinsky department of the Kuban region [3] .
January 14, 1961 [2] - the village receives the status of the city and the name of Kurganinsk .
Pedigree Kurganinsk begins with the Cossack village. Glorious toilers and brave warriors - linear Cossacks laid the first stone of the Kurgan village in 1853 . On the right bank of Laba, on the mound, at the site of the Cossack guard post, 70 Cossack families arrived from behind the Kuban found a settlement, named by association with the characteristic locality as the Kurgannaya village, an abundance of ancient kurgans.
The historic-architectural gem and symbolic symbol of the Kurganinsky district is considered to be the Holy Ascension Church - a unique creation of architects, which is included in the treasury of cultural values of the Kuban and Russia. Its construction began in 1906 and was conducted on voluntary donations from residents with the initiative support of holy spiritual affairs by the village ataman Zinchenko. It was on the day of the Ascension of the Lord in 1916 that the temple was consecrated. The church chronicle tells us that outstanding painters - researchers and students of the great Russian artist Vasnetsov participated in the painting of our church.
The village of Kurgan quickly developed and grew, together with the whole Kuban, survived the years of civil war . During the Great Patriotic War , 22,000 Kurganins went to defend their homeland, 12,000 were awarded orders and medals for their feat of arms, and 14 Kurganins became Heroes of the Soviet Union, including residents of the city Vladimir Serov , Ivan Serikov , Mikhail Sakhnenko , Pyotr Degtev , Panteley Burakov became a full gentleman of the Order of Glory. The memorial "Nika" is dedicated to the memory of those who fell during the Civil and Great Patriotic War.
The baton of the heroic deed of grandfathers was continued by the young residents of Kurganinsk, Valery Ocheretny and Oleg Protsenko, who were posthumously awarded the title Heroes of Russia. The names of these soldiers who defended the integrity of the country are now wearing the new streets of Kurganinsk.
The Kurgan land became famous for the fact that the film “Kuban Cossacks” was shot here by the talented director I. A. Pyryev in the late 1940s. In 2003, at the request of the residents of the area, the famous arch from the film was restored, which since 1950 has decorated the city for several decades. In memory of the USSR People’s Artist, Klara Stepanovna Luchko, who played one of the main roles in the film, a memorial sign was installed and the central square of Kurganinsk was named after her. In the museum, Klara Stepanovna is dedicated to the permanent exhibition “Pearl of the Kurganinskaya land”.
The appearance of Kurganinsk changed in the year of the 150th anniversary of its foundation. The asphalt pavement of many roads has been updated, hundreds of meters of new pavements have been built, intersections equipped with traffic lights, and new auto pavilions have been built at bus stops. The markets, the station and central squares, the children's building of the district hospital were reconstructed.
On the territory of the city are:
- 242nd Separate Pavement Railway Battalion
- 211st Separate Railway Mechanization Battalion
