Biography
Born in 1901 in Shusha . At the age of 16, speaking at one of the Shusha Majlises, he drew attention with the masterful performance of Mugham Kurd-Shahnaz in the complex upper register, and the young Isfendiyar’s teacher Islam Abdullayev proudly awarded him the name “Khan” [2] .
According to the singer himself, Jabbar Karjagdioglu and Seyid Shushinsky played an important role in improving his mastery in the future [2] . The owner of a strong voice with a wide range, Khan Shushinsky sang all mugams with skill, but no one sang Mahur-Hindi like he did. Khan performed all the variants of Segah mugham perfectly, and with a special brilliance - “ Karabakh shikeste ”. Since he played the tambourine well, he was always successful in performing rhythmic mugams [2] .
Khan Shushinsky was an excellent performer of the song “Gara Göz” (“Black Eyes”) by Uzeyir Hajibeyov , himself was the author of many songs, including the very popular “Gemerim”, “Ai Gozal”, “Menden Gene Gezme” and dedicated to Shusha “ Shushanyn Daglars of the Dumanda bashi ”(“ The summits of the mountains of Shushi are covered with fog ”) [2] .
In the film “Not That, So This,” filmed after the eponymous musical comedy of the Azerbaijani composer Uzeir Hajibeyov, Khan Shusha, accompanied by the kemanchist Talat Bakikhanov and the tar player Bahram Mansurov .
In the 1960s, he organized a mugham studio at the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic, and also taught at the Azerbaijan State Music College.
